While juice bars seem to be on every corner in other Los Angeles neighborhoods, until now (and not counting Juicy Beats that came and went after Al’s Bar in 2003), Arts District residents have not had a local place dedicated to solely producing and distributing freshly pressed juice.
That’s changed with the recent opening of CAN CAN Cleanse, which makes its wholesome liquids daily in its Arts District production facilities at 826 E. 3rd St. Customers can pick up or have delivered one-, three- and five-day cleanses that feature organic fruits, veggies, teas, nuts, herbs, and spices. Want to buy just one or two bottles? Visit The Pie Hole at 714 Traction Ave., which is the only Los Angeles location that sells single servings of CAN CAN juice.
What makes CAN CAN Cleanse unique from other juice companies? Its cleanses feature juices … plus soups AND teas! Also, it changes its offerings with each season. The Fall 2013 menu designed by founder and nutritionist Teresa Piro (pictured above) starts on Monday, September 30. I’m starting my first three-day cleanse with CAN CAN on Tuesday, October 1, so I’ll keep you posted about my experience.
Orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance either online or by phone. Customers can request delivery (charges may apply depending on location) or pick up at the Arts District facilities on Monday through Thursday, 7 AM to 3 PM, or on Sunday, 1 PM to 3 PM.
Piro started her organic cleanse company in San Francisco during 2010. The Arts District location is her first in Southern California. Fun Arts District fact? She went to college with Würstkuche co-owner Joseph Pitruzzelli.
