The MetalMorphosis is a reconfigurable steel and light sculpture unbound to a permanent shape. It is greater than the sum of its parts, an expression of composition using repeated forms-consisting of many rotations of the same curve into a complex, vine-like shape with custom LED fixtures along its path. Liberated from a mandate of permanence, the modular sculpture is kinetic through time in the different locations it has, is currently, and will inhabit.
Each iteration of the MetalMorphosis is site specific, taking to a space like a fluid to a vessel, its iterative naming system reflecting its current version. Initially commissioned for the NAIOP Fall Event at East River, MetalMorphosis 1.0 was installed in the neighboring building. After that unit became occupied by a new tenant, it was moved next door for this new configuration of 1.1 before it travels to its next destination and iteration.
