I am MUSED.
Connect with creatives, sip on refreshing cocktails, and enjoy summer tunes while viewing art. Participating galleries are Dean Day Gallery, Moody Gallery and Thornwood Gallery (11:00 AM to 5:00 PM) and Avant-Art Gallery, Catherine Couturier Gallery, Heidi Vaughan Fine Art, and Hooks-Epstein Galleries (11:00 AM to 8:00 PM).
Houston Gallery Row is located at the intersection of Colquitt and Lake streets in the city’s Upper Kirby area. It is home to multiple galleries housed door-to-door or just a hop, skip, and a jump down Colquitt.
Houston-based artist and visual poet Ernesto Marenco’s Petite Retrospective at Heidi Vaughan Fine Art, a retrospective fantastic objects and strange sculptures that call to mind the surreal readymades of Marcel Duchamp. Moody Gallery has a great looking show of paintings by Lucas Johnson, who was a major player in the Texas art scene going back to the late 1960s. Hooks-Epstein Galleries has two shows up: Angelica Raquel’s Leyendas and Mine, a collection of beautiful and mysterious watercolor and mixed media paintings inspired by her childhood and Texas Mexican folklore; and an exhibit of hand-woven abstractions by Lauren Salazar titled Tethered. From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hooks-Epstein, vocalist Renee Edd “Holiday” and guitarist Nathan Kyle — who perform as the duo Holiday & Vine — will play two sets of jazz standards, show tunes, and classic pop hits.
