ONE DAY ONLY! WALK WITH LITTLE AMAL IN HOUSTON! This internationally celebrated 12-foot-tall puppet depicting a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl is touring the United States in an epic 6,000-mile journey as a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees. 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM “Finding My Team: Little Amal Visits Gulfton” at Burnett Bayland Park (6000 Chimney Rock Rd., Houston 77081). Organized by DiverseWorks, performances by local artists and neighborhood groups in Gulfton, called the “Ellis Island” of Houston.
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM “Light My Way: Little Amal Visits Third Ward” at Project Row Houses (2519 Holman St., Houston 77004) and Emancipation Park (3018 Emancipation Ave., Houston 77004). Organized by The Ensemble Theatre Houston, this community walk starts across from Project Row Houses and ends at Emancipation Park. It is also presented in partnership with Project Row Houses, Community Artist Collective, Urban Souls, U.S. Dream Academy and S.H.A.P.E. Community Center.
