ART SHOW “Figuratively Speaking: The Human Figure in Art” at Hardy & Nance Studios

April 6 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

SATURDAY, APRIL 6, 2024 @ 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM: Hardy & Nance Studios presents “Figuratively Speaking: The Human Figure in Art,” a one-night-only group show of paintings that depict the enthusiasm, intensity, and complexity of the human condition. Ten artists are featured: Wood Fancher Anthony, Robin Baker, Kelley Devine, Howie Doyle, Linzi Goyette, Toria Hill, Michelle Huff, Rebekah Molander, Patrick Palmer, and Stäcy Smith.

The human figure — the body, its gestures and expressions — is meaningful to everyone. We use it to communicate with each other. Our brains are wired to find and identify the face and figure in our field of view before our rational mind even kicks into gear. Thus, artistic interpretations of the figure are as diverse as the artists themselves. Sometimes shown in abstraction, sometimes in representational style — and all points in between — the figure becomes a vehicle for the artist’s spiritual, emotional, visceral, intellectual and aesthetic visions.
