ON VIEW THRU MARCH 30, 2024: “One Nation One Groove: African American Music as the Story of American History” is curated by John Guess, Jr. for Houston Museum of African American Culture.

“Historically, Black musicians have offered snapshots of the times through music, capturing defining moments of American society. Music by African Americans has given people a voice to tell stories, preserve traditions, and express feelings about everyday life. HMAAC is proud to tell the story of this music and its capacity to express the human condition and drive social change in America,” shared curator John Guess, Jr. who is also HMAAC’s CEO.
