OPENING RECEPTIONS: “Fiber in 3D” and “This Side Up” at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft

January 26 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

ON VIEW THRU MAY 4, 2024: “Fiber in 3D” is an immersive, experiential fiber-based installation in the Asher Gallery from Fiber Art Now’s exhibition-in-print, which is dedicated to fiber art that occupies space and explores dimension.

This Side Up” reveals the crafted, oft-overlooked and mostly purposefully concealed objects made for an exhibition, following their journey from their creation to an artist studio to a fine art shipping transit facility to a clandestine preparation room, and finally, to the public presentation in a museum gallery. On view in the Main and Front Galleries, this exhibition is the first curatorial project of its kind to frame the materials-based knowledge and making practices radiating from the museum industrial complex within the discipline of craft.
