PERFORMANCES “Be My Valentine | Musicians in Medicine” at MD Anderson Cancer Center

February 14 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

TWO 2-HOUR PERFORMANCES on FEBRUARY 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Park Atrium of MD Anderson: Presented in partnership with River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, “Be My Valentine” features ravishingly romantic chamber works by Antonín Dvořák, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Ludwig van Beethoven featuring cellist Richard Belcher, violinist Eva Burmeister, oboist Alecia Lawyer, and concert pianist Mei Rui.

Dr. Mei Rui — who is also Director of the Music-In-Medicine Initiative and an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at MD Anderson — curated this Valentine’s Day concert as part of MD Anderson’s inaugural Musicians-in-Medicine Initiative and Concerts in the Park. Going beyond patient experience, Dr. Rui is collaborating with ROCO musicians and delving into harnessing evidence-based “prescription” music medicine as a non-pharmacological and non-invasive intervention to enhance patient outcomes, provide wellness, and enhance surgical performance.
