PUBLIC RECEPTION “CAMH’s State of Disruption” at POST Houston

May 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

MAY 10–26, 2024: Celebrate the 3rd year of CAMH’s Teacher Advisory Group with this exhibition of artwork from students and teachers that boldly explores themes related to identity, disruption, child-like obsessions, and controlled chaos. “State of Disruption” is a compelling exhibition that confronts the challenges and complexities of the nation’s current education system. Teachers from CAMH’s Teacher Advisory Group (TAG) and their students channel their creativity and insights into thought-provoking works that reflect their classroom experiences and perspectives.

Through child-like wonder and with boundless imagination, students and teachers created works that emerge as powerful visual references to the evolving landscape of public school. From ceramics to sculpture to collage and varied forms of mixed-media, viewers are invited to confront uncomfortable truths and reimagine the possibilities for change.

Launched in October 2021, CAMH’s Teacher Advisory Group is a highly motivated and passionate teacher cohort. The group was created for teachers to share their knowledge and experience with CAMH staff in shaping future programs and vision within the Education and Public Programs department. The Teacher Advisory Group provides strategic recommendations, support in writing exhibition-specific materials, and advocates for CAMH’s programs within their classrooms, schools, and community.
