COMMUNITY EVENT “International Women’s Day featuring Dolores Huerta” at Rothko Chapel

March 7 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$5 – $25

MARCH 7, 2024 @ 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM: Come celebrate International Women’s Day at the Rothko Chapel and listen to iconic women leaders in unions and labor organizing, including Dolores Huerta. Registration required and pay what you can ($5–$25) to secure your place on bench seating inside of the chapel.

In addition to Huerta, panelists include Linda Morales, Organizing Coordinator, Texas Gulf Coast Area Labor Federation / AFL-CIO; Elsa Flores, President, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Texas; and Jackie Anderson, President, Houston Federation of Teachers.

Huerta is dedicated to advancing the ongoing struggle for equal pay, combating discrimination, and ensuring equal protections for all. An activist and champion for labor rights, she has devoted herself to improving the social and economic welfare of farm workers and fighting against discrimination. In 1960, she founded the Agricultural Workers Association and was instrumental in establishing the precursor to the United Farm Workers (UFW). Although she formally retired from her UFW position in 1999, Huerta remains resolute in her dedication to empowering workers, immigrants, and women.

Learn how to get involved in and be supportive of organizing efforts both regionally and nationally. Join in community building and renewal of spirit for labor organizers.
