ON VIEW THRU JANUARY 28, 2024: Melody Locke shares her lumen prints of flowers found in gardens and bouquets, but with a unique twist in this show.
Lumen printing, an alternative photographic technique, unveils the ethereal essence of botanicals without the need for a camera. By introducing fabric and other aids, the resulting prints often deviate significantly from the original subject, both in shape and color.
Melody Locke is a graduate of the University of Houston and began her long-term association with the MFAH Glassell School of Art in 2007. She is a native Californian and naturalized Texan who has lived in Houston since her early teens. She and her husband are dutiful servants to their cat.
