For one night, immerse yourself in living Arts District history by attending and BUYING ART at the “Bedlam Reunion” benefit art auction on Saturday, August 15. Over 50 artists in Los Angeles and beyond donated more than 65 works for sale during this event, plus donation-based performances by local musicians, drawing sessions by the infamous Gallery Girls, tarot card readings, and more will take place. Proceeds from art auction sales, along with donations, will support financial needs of gallerist and art advocate Jim Fittipaldi who recently underwent costly heart surgery and requires additional medical attention. Bring cash to buy art, tip performers, and purchase libations … come prepared to donate to the cause!

Friends of Jim Fittipaldi and fans of BEDLAM — a “hidden in plain sight” speakeasy, art salon, performance space, and magazine of former days — are invited, along with anyone interested in supporting the nonprofit Art Share L.A. and local artists plus learning about the fascinating past of those days when visual artists were more plentiful in the Arts District.

ABOUT BEDLAM: BEDLAM existed in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles and beyond as the creative enterprise of Jim Fittipaldi and friends. Fittipaldi first opened BEDLAM in a warehouse loft that is now part of the Molino Street Lofts around 1994. It housed gallery shows, speakeasies, benefits, holiday parties, drawing salons, and more. For a short time, it moved to the Los Feliz neighborhood in Los Angeles during 2000 before returning to the Arts District, making its home at 1275 E. 6th Street (in a warehouse owned by the infamous “Potato King” Maurice Zuckerman and what is now The Unique Space). It closed in 2006, then reopened for a brief time during 2008 in the former Al’s Bar.
