Love vintage and designer furnishings and collectibles? Shop at Hughes Estate Sales for wholesale prices — alongside L.A.’s hippest stylists, interior designers, and antique dealers — of timeless classics, one-of-a-kind treasures, and unexpected funky finds at their monthly shopping events.
The Arts District is home to Hughes’ latest location (its first is in Altadena). The 8,000-sq.-ft. showroom at 458 S. Alameda in Downtown Los Angeles opens to the public on the 3rd Friday of the month for three days only when shoppers can buy from multiple estate sales under one roof. (The next event takes place on February 20-22, 2015 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.) Styled in unique room settings, the Hughes team displays a curated selection of items gleaned from about a dozen or more estates.
Come early for the best selection, and return often for the best deals through Sunday (if what you want is still there!). Remember, every month has NEW items as nothing is carried over from previous sales as inventory sells out by the end of each three-day sale. Admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily during the three-day event. Cash, checks, and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) are accepted.
BE SURE TO SIGN UP for the PRE-SALE “HUGHES INSIDER” newsletter, which goes out on Tuesday and Thursday during the week before the sale with an EXCLUSIVE sneak-peek photo gallery of items to be included the upcoming sale => CLICK HERE!
Here’s just a few of the items featured in the Feb. 20-22 sale:
Hughes’ new Arts District showroom in a converted industrial warehouse gives thousands of loft dwellers, artists, creatives, and urban professionals who call Downtown home one-stop shopping of multiple estate sales, saving the hassle of having to navigate the Valley and other unchartered hinterlands for bargains. Located at 458 S. Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013, the Arts District Showroom is a great weekend destination as it is walking distance of Urth Caffe, Zinc Cafe, Blue Bottle Coffee, The Pie Hole, and other cool Arts District eateries as well as amazing street art murals (just down the street from The Container Yard!) and shopping (one street over from the Arts District Co-Op). Situated at 5th and Alameda just southeast of Little Tokyo and in the heart of the Arts District, the new Hughes showroom in DTLA is also close to major freeways such as the 10 and the 101.
In addition to furnishings, Hughes’ monthly events feature thousands of items for sale on consignment from the best estates in Los Angeles, including fine art, high-quality contemporary and vintage furniture, décor, lighting, costume and fine jewelry, vehicles, and other valuable items. Often, Hughes also anonymously hosts the estates of celebrities who don’t want to host sales in their private homes.
Hughes has provided estate sales in Los Angeles since 1978. Their estate sales services include the sales of consignment furniture, vintage car sales, and estate liquidation of entire household or partial estates. In addition to the Arts District on 3rd Fridays, Hughes hosts monthly sales at its Altadena, CA showroom on 1st Fridays.
