On Sunday, August 30 @ 4-7pm at Lot 613 in the Arts District, join local residents, business owners, and others who care about trees and communities in Downtown Los Angeles at the first fundraising event of Industrial District Green (IDG). Founded in 2012, IDG offers a variety of community programs and services aimed at greening the industrial spaces between DTLA high-rises and the Los Angeles River. To date, IDG has planted over 120 trees and, with the support of volunteers, is actively managing their continued care.

During the event, learn about IDG’s new Adopt-A-Tree program. Enjoy complimentary appetizers generously donated by Bread Lounge, The Corner Store Arts District, Daily Dose Cafe, Peddler’s Creamery, The Pie Hole, Pour Haus Wine Bar, The Springs LA, and Zinc Cafe & Market while listening to the sounds of gospel funk by The Sanctified Army Praise Team and jazz by Harvey Newmark. The event is also made possible through the generosity of Councilmember Jose Huizar, LOT 613, Artist & Craftsman Supply, Koreatown Youth & Community Center, Skid Row community activist General Jeff, Grateful Meds Collective, and Arts District Community Council of LA. A suggested donation of $20 or more at the door helps continue the ongoing greening services of IDG, which includes planting and maintaining trees, medians, and urban gardens as well as educating and engaging the public. It also supports the continuation of the IDG “Street Tree Team,” a program that involves local Skid Row community members, housed and homeless, in the care and upkeep of young trees.
A project of Community Partners, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization was co-founded by Hal McMath, Executive Director; Gabrielle Newmark, Program Director; and Katherine McNenny, Director of Outreach & Education.
