Support local artists and the Arts District’s own neighborhood arts center! BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW and attend this benefit cocktail reception to support the ongoing work by Art Share L.A. and to honor acclaimed Los Angeles muralist Kent Twitchell. A highlight of the evening will be the display of eight large-scale images drawn from Twitchell’s 40-year collection of his iconic larger-than-life portrait murals. In addition, two of his never-before-seen images (one of Michael Jackson) will be on view, which are now also on display through a public art exhibition hosted on a network of billboards by Clear Channel Outdoor.
Above the Streets is an evening of celebration that includes a silent auction featuring works of art for sale by local artists (100% of proceeds support Art Share L.A.), appetizers and cocktails provided by Traxx Restaurant, and a program presenting Kent Twitchell with the Esteemed Artists Award by Isabel Rojas-Williams of the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles. Tickets begin at $50 and support the year-round work of Art Share L.A., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

OPENING: “Not an Exit: Photographs by Austin Irving”
Exhibit on view thru SAT 6/27 at Wilding Cran Gallery
939 S. Santa Fe. Ave., Los Angeles 90021
RSVP on Facebook • www.WildingCran.com
This exhibit features selections from a collection of large-format photographs compiled by Los Angeles-based photographer Austin Irving since 2007. On view in Wilding Cran’s Main Gallery, the subjects for the series are doorways and hallways, liminal spaces intended for movement that somehow appear impenetrable. Maze-like optical illusions occur when the linear elements align to simultaneously flatten and expand the two-dimensional picture-plane. Also on view thru SAT 6/13 in Unit B of Wilding Cran is DISCONNECTION, a group show curated by Justin Tyler Close of Lab Magazine, featuring new work by Eliot Lee Hazel, Ariana Papademetropoulos, Nouel Riel, Logan White, Darian Zahedi, and Amanda Charchian in collaboration with Eli Craven. DISCONNECTION explores ideas about living in today’s world where everyone is more connected than ever and how that has led to a loss of mystery and suspense within relationships because of the constant need for immediacy.
