The Houston Hour is a hour-long radio show focused on the city’s art and history that airs every Friday at 8:00 PM on 90.1 KPFT Houston, a listener-sponsored Pacifica radio station. Listen LIVE on your way home from art gallery hopping or visit the archives to download and save episodes for later listening.
The Houston Hour first hit the KPFT airwaves in 2018. Since then, hundreds of Houstonians have been interviewed on the show. Episodes often feature two guests: a creative arts-related guest, and a legendary Houston history guest.
Mister McKinney is the iconic Houston historian whose mission is ensuring the city’s future doesn’t forget its past. His yellow, open-top Houston History Bus enables him to traverse the city to teach people from all walks of life about the history of Houston. He offers more than 100 different tours of historic neighborhoods and significant places around Houston. Mister McKinney’s Titans & Tycoons and Women History tours are among crowd favorites.
Heidi Vaughan is a gallerist, art advisor, appraiser, and art consultant whose namesake gallery Heidi Vaughan Fine Art is located at 3510 Lake St at Colquitt in the Upper Kirby district, home to Houston’s oldest Gallery Row. She advises on all aspects of art collecting, including sales, the creation of cohesive collections, valuation, authentication, conservation, framing, installation, display, shipping, storage, deaccessioning, and liquidation.
