SWEET! Over the holiday weekend, Sweet Rose Creamery popped up inside of Woo Souvenir Shop. Batches of ice cream and sorbets made fresh using seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs from local farmers markets will be served in cups or homemade waffle cones throughout July every Saturday and Sunday from 3 PM to 9 PM. The menu will change weekly.
The pop-up ice cream shop is housed in Arts District-based designer Staci Woo’s design studio that now houses a retail store called Woo Souvenir Shop. Store hours are Monday through Friday 11 AM to 5 PM and Saturday and Sunday 12 noon to 6 PM (though the store will stay open during July until 9 PM!).
Centered in the booming Arts District community, Woo and her husband Mike Badt have worked and created in the Arts District since 1997. Their shop is filled with Staci’s signature modern California bohemian styles and now, as parents of three, features her exclusive selection of “little woo.” Thoughtfully curated shelves are filled with handmade baskets, totes, jewelry, apothecary, and yes, even framed photographic prints by Downtown Muse and signed copies of my book, MUSE-ings: Snapshots of the Arts District. Sneak a peek behind the shop during the week and you’ll find a sea of creative chaos happening daily behind the scenes of Woo Design Studio & HQ.
In addition to their Arts District flagship store, Staci’s lines of apparel and accessories — Woo, Little Woo, Souvenir Edition, and Underwoo — are also sold online and through high-end boutiques and retailers worldwide. Made in the USA, the lines are eco-friendly and conscious.
