Working over the holidays? Need a quick turkey fix on the run? Can’t go home for a home-cooked meal with the family? Here are just two of the many “fast and easy” holiday dining options in the Arts District for that “grab-and-go” thanksgiving experience!
TURKEY BURGER! Check out Umami Burger’s Holiday Bird — an all-in-one Thanksgiving experience (except of the pie!). This limited-edition burger is packed with a stuffing patty AND a turkey patty topped with gravy, cranberry chutney, and fried sage leaves sandwiched by spiced mashed Japanese yams on either side of the freshly made bun. Order the House Pickle Plate (ask for it to be delivered with the burger as the tastes complement well), a seasonal selection of pickled vegetables that currently includes Umami’s street cart mix (carrots, onions, and serrano peppers sprinkled with cumin), which I loved; grated beets; daikon radishes; and crunchy dill pickles. Wash everything down with a refreshing Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Cider for an completely amazing fast-casual meal! P.S. Umami is donating $1 from every Holiday Bird sold to Meals on Wheels America.

TURKEY PIE! The Pie Hole ALWAYS delivers with their changing, eclectic selection of savory (and sweet) pies! For the holidays, their Thanksgiving Pot Pie, accompanied by a side of homemade cranberry sauce, hits the spot. Like Umami’s Holiday Bird, it’s an all-in-one complete Thanksgiving dinner without the pie, but The Pie Hole has the latter covered, too. Their holiday pie selections include the seasonal Salted Caramel Pecan Pie … very sweet as every good pecan pie should be, tempered with sea salt. Speaking of holiday pies, if you haven’t ordered yours yet, the good news is that The Pie Hole has made literally hundreds of additional pumpkin and pecan pies beyond their 1,000 advance holiday orders for customers to walk in and buy on Wednesday, November 24 during 9am to 1pm. There’s still time to get your favorite holiday pie!
