SHOP! There are so many great places to shop nowadays in the Arts District, and this time of year offers EVEN MORE for gift-seekers. A multitude of seasonal events, pop-up shops, and community gatherings abound that supplement retail storefronts. Meet up with me on Saturday at the Arts District Co-Op (one block west of Urth Caffé) and walk over to several other nearby holiday markets! Here’s more info on the year-round retailers at Arts District Co-op:
THE FENIX LA: This luxury collection includes Jack Frysztak’s signature candles, along with his line of bath and body care products, designer sunglasses, and jewelry. I highly recommend buying his natural wood-wick candles, which are hand-poured with coconut and soy oils scented with one or more of his 200 fragrances — they seemingly last forever, too!
OPEN MARKET: This Americana-inspired menswear line features Kevin Chen’s signature 6-pocket jeans made of premium Japanese and Italian Selvedge raw denim. The collection also includes uniquely oil-stained carpenters, henleys, tees, chunky-knit sweaters, leather and denim jackets, blazers, hooded/non-hooded sweatshirts in a multitude of fabrics. All of the designs reflect a deconstructed approach to vintage work wear, re-engineered with a modern appeal.

LALA DUDLEY: This local designer makes one-of-a-kind custom sweater vests, dresses, hand-painted tees, handbags, and jewelry.
DOWNTOWN MUSE: My Arts District photographic archives are the most expansive of its kind (follow me on Instagram!). At Arts District Co-Op, I have framed prints displayed on the walls, along with unframed prints on paper (only $25!), ready-to-hang prints printed on metal, images hand-transferred on wood, art books, greeting cards, calendars, coaster sets, and limited-edition serigraph Arts District maps.
MINNIGURUMI: This handmade Amigurumi line by Minny Chen features crocheted stuffed animals, hats, and capes just for kids, but adored and collected by adults, too!
THE CONSERVATORE: This boutique is for the contemporary woman who is classic AND bold with a high fashion sensibility. The Conservatore offers rare and unique hand-picked new, gently worn, vintage and designer clothing, shoes, and accessories from all over the world.
WESTSIDE COUTURE: This local fashion shop offers organic and imported cotton dresses plus handmade leather belts from Morocco, too.
